Meet the maker
Hi, I'm Melanie, here is a little about me...

For as long as I can remember, I have always made things. I started my own little jewellery making business at 13yrs old! It didn't prove to be very profitable though (hahahaha), and I eventually found my way into nursing. I have been working as a cardiac nurse for the last 20 years or so, which I love. I have 3 kids, 1 dog and 1 cat. We took the plunge and moved from Queensland to Tasmania recently, and we are loving the new experiences and the wildness that is Tasmania!
I have always had a insatiable passion for anything arty/crafty, something I am sure I inherited from my late grandmother. I was flicking through facebook one day, and spotted a mug in an advertisement. It was lavender, and handmade, and the handle was so unusual... that got me thinking about learning pottery! I enrolled in pottery classes at the Gold Coast Potters Association very soon afterwards. That was early 2019.

I created a small studio in the office in my home, and started making. I quickly had too much pottery hanging about, so I tried the markets, to see how it went. I almost sold out that first market! I was so nervous that no one would like what I made, or say something nasty, but no! I have been greatly encouraged by all of the positive feedback, and constant orders since putting my work 'out there'.

I really value being able to spend time with my family, and pottery enables me to do that. I really appreciate each and every one of you in supporting my little business! I hope that my art brings you as much delight and joy as it does for me in making it.

I enjoy pottery for many reasons, but one of the main things I love about it is when you find the flow and lose yourself in creativity. I love that I can indulge in this therapeutic art as often as I like!
